Giuseppe "Baffo" Banfi, born on July 21, 1954, in Lecco, Italy, is a distinguished keyboardist and synthesist, best known as a founding member of the progressive rock band Biglietto per l'Inferno. Following the band's dissolution after two albums, Banfi embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Galaxy My Dear" in 1978, which showcased his transition towards electronic music inspired by the German Krautrock scene. He collaborated with Klaus Schulze, a pioneer in electronic music and founder of Tangerine Dream, leading to the release of albums such as "Ma, Dolce Vita" in 1979 and "Hearth" in 1981. After a long hiatus from the music scene, Banfi returned in 2015 with the album "Frontera," a collaboration with Matteo Cantaluppi, blending modern electronic sounds with his classic style. Banfi's contributions have been instrumental in shaping the Italian progressive and electronic music landscape, influencing a generation of musicians.
