Chris Meyer

Synthesist & Chief Engineer

Chris Meyer began his journey with modular synthesizers in the late 1970s, learning on a Steiner Parker Synthasystem. This passion for synthesis led to an engineering role at Sequential Circuits in the mid-1980s, where he developed Vector Synthesis and contributed to various instruments, including the Studio 440. After his time at Sequential, Meyer worked with Digidesign, Music Maker Publications, and Tom Oberheim’s Marion Systems before becoming the Chief Engineer at Roland R&D US. He also served as Technical Chairman of the MIDI Manufacturer’s Association, playing a crucial role in advancing the MIDI specification, and taught synthesis through UCLA Extension to musicians and producers in the Los Angeles area.
